Strong, Safe Swimming for Life.
The University of Calgary Swim Club (UCSC) is a year round competitive swim club offering high quality professional coaching and technique instruction for all ages and abilities. We accept new swimmers ages 6 to 9 in our tryouts in September. The goal of our team is to provide every member an opportunity to improve swimming skills and achieve success at his or her level of ability, from novice to international competitor.
All of our coaches, as members of the Canadian Swim Coaches Association, have access to the most comprehensive training and certification program for coaches of any sport in Canada. The time that the children spend training and competing will be quality time.
Thank you for joining us and we look forward to meeting you.

Development Program
From the Coach:
Our Development Program is designed to build a strong foundation of skills that support each swimmer’s progression through the sport. At UCSC, we strive to create a positive and supportive environment where swimmers feel successful and develop a lifelong love for swimming.
We follow the principles of the Long Term Athlete Development (LTAD) model, ensuring that each swimmer progresses at a developmentally appropriate pace. The Development Program is intended for swimmers aged 10 and under.
The season runs from early September to the end of May, with swim meets scheduled throughout the year. Training sessions are held in NW Calgary out of Shouldice Pool and Churchill Pool.
As a competitive swim club, UCSC expects all members of the Development Program to participate in swim meets during the season.
Shouldice pool trains Tuesday/Thursday/Friday and is primarily catering to our new members.
Churchill pool trains Monday/Wednesday/Friday and is mostly filled with returning swimmers.
Our pools/groups are broken down for the 2025-2026 season as follows:
Churchill Pool:
Groups | Training | Group Composition |
CH1 | 30 min programming | New swimmers |
CH2 | 60 min programming | Returning swimmers |
CH3 | 60 min programming | Returning swimmers |
Shouldice Pool:
Groups | Training | Group Composition |
SD1 | 30 min programming | New swimmers |
SD2 | 60 min programming | New swimmers |
SD3 | 60 min programming | Returning swimmers |
