National Development Coach
Andrew Miller
Andrew Miller is UCSC’s National Development Coach.
Coaching for 17 years, Andrew has worked with athletes across a range of development levels, from age-group swimming through to Olympic and World Championship competition. Throughout his career, he has coached with Ajax Aquatic Club, Swimming Canada’s High Performance Centre – Ontario, and Cascade Swim Club before joining UCSC in 2026.
Andrew’s coaching experience has included helping athletes achieve national team selections, international medals, NCAA scholarships, and national and provincial record performances. He was a member of Swimming Canada’s Select Coaches Group from 2017–2021 and is a two-time recipient of Swim Ontario’s Coach of the Year for Top Performance Male award, earning the honour in 2017 and 2019. His program was also recognized with Swim Ontario’s Most Improved Female Team Award in 2019.
Andrew’s coaching interests include long-term athlete development, performance planning, biomechanics, and dryland programming.
Originally relocating to Calgary in 2022 for its proximity to the Rocky Mountains, Andrew has made the city home. Outside of the pool, he is an avid hiker and fitness enthusiast, a self-proclaimed movie buff with a quote ready for almost any occasion, and a proud uncle. He also spends plenty of time exploring Calgary with Chewie, his Nova Scotia Duck Tolling Retriever.
