Western Transmountain Festival

March 12, 2026

Nearly 100 Dinos spent two days in Seton for the Western Transmountain Festival hosted by Cascade. The quick four-session competition allowed our athletes to gain experience racing both heats and finals, while still having Sunday to themselves to prepare for the week ahead.

Racing was set up in a senior meet style, which meant adapting to a challenging environment for our age group swimmers. Open-age finals meant learning how to put together races in many different scenarios - sometimes from the outside lanes of the 10-lane pool alongside swimmers ranging from 12 to 20 years old. It provided a great opportunity to learn how to prepare and focus on what’s in your control: your effort, attitude, and energy.

Long sessions, a tiny warm-down tank, and 10-minute breaks meant some planning for athletes to ensure they were properly warmed up, with races sometimes taking place hours after the main warm-up was finished. These are valuable skills to carry into March racing.

Despite all these environmental factors that may have made the deck feel a bit different, our Dinos delivered some stellar performances and made great adjustments from heats to finals.

It was a great check-in for our athletes as they move toward their bigger meets in March.
