TREX @ Fernie 2026

April 21, 2026

The TREX squads had a fabulous time competing, cheering, and generally enjoying their team travel experiences at the Fernie Fox Invitational April 17-19th.

With an age range of 9-12 year old swimmers, there was a wide range of experience, challenge and ease, with the responsibilities that come with the independence of team travel. From keeping things tidy and organized at the accommodations, to polite behaviour at the restaurant, the TREX swimmers proved to be very mature travellers. There were timelines to adhere to with meals and commuting on the team bus to the pool for warm up and competition, which the swimmers all handled like pros.

Their focus during meet warm ups and commitment to technique and race plans during competition was excellent.

During competition they celebrated best times and well-swum races, and handled disappointments with good communication and lots of support from coaches, chaperones and friends. TREX swimmers spent the weekend rising to the occasion of (for some) one of their first experiences at a meet away from home without parents: adjusting, making good choices and doing their best.

We are so grateful for our organized and inspired chaperones, the Elk Valley Dolphins for another fun and well organized meet, and all of the officials who were supportive, helpful and ran such an efficient competition.

Go DINOS!
