Dinos @ Provincial Trials

March 16, 2026

Our Dinos spent the weekend in Medicine Hat competing at the Winter Provincial Trials, where 60 swimmers represented the team and raced hard for a chance to move on to the next level. By the end of the meet, 20 athletes had punched their ticket to Provincial Championships — some by achieving the qualifying time standard and others by winning their event to secure their spot.

It was an exciting weekend of racing with plenty on the line. We saw athletes step up with smart, strategic swimming and then elevate those races with the power and drive we’ve been building all season. There were countless best times, medals, and first-place finishes, and some very exciting moments as swimmers looked up to the board to see the results of their hard work pay off.

Many of our athletes earned the opportunity to race in finals, giving them valuable experience putting together strong prelims performances and then returning in the evening to build on those races. Watching swimmers make adjustments from prelims to even more powerful finals swims was a highlight of the weekend and an important skill as we continue racing throughout the season.

The energy on deck was fantastic all weekend long. Teammates were cheering loudly, celebrating each other’s successes, and supporting one another through the ups and downs of a busy competition schedule. The relays were another exciting highlight, giving swimmers the chance to come together, race for the team, and finish sessions with some fast and energetic performances.

Overall, the meet was a great step forward for our group. It was incredibly rewarding to watch athletes trust the work they’ve been putting in at practice and rise to the occasion when it mattered most. We’re excited to see this momentum carry forward as our qualifiers prepare for Provincial Championships.
