2025 Toronto World Cup

October 27, 2025

A rare opportunity on Canadian soil to witness first-hand the very best swimming has to offer. The World Cup series came to a thrilling conclusion at the final stop in Toronto, October 23-25. The stands were packed (despite games 1&2 of the World Series of Baseball being in TO on Friday and Saturday), and the show put on by World Aquatics was electric!

This three-meet series brings together the world’s top swimmers, all competing not only for glory and ranking, but also for significant prize money. Top earners can make well over US$150,000—but the racing is intensely competitive and incredibly fast.

To win several of the events, swimmers essentially had to threaten or break world-record pace. Remarkably, our twelve swimmers from Calgary Swimming attending the competition got to watch several world records live—including Canada’s own Josh Liendo breaking the 100 Butterfly world record. There were also historic firsts in swimming: Caspar Corbeau swam a sub-2:00 200 Breast, and Kate Douglass swam a sub-50 second 100 Free. These are true milestones in swimming history, and being there in person was thrilling.

Our own Alexanne Lepage broke the 2:20 barrier for the first time in the 200 Breast and came extremely close to breaking through the 30-second barrier in the 50 Breast—with a 30.00 time. Alexanne was our only swimmer to advance to a final, but she was by no means our only one posting outstanding performances. Keep an eye on our socials for full coverage of our own record-breakers from the third stop of the 2025 World Cup.
