Kenton Williams

Born and raised in Calgary, Kenton has been part of the UCSC team his whole life. Starting when he was 7, he swam for the club from Development all the way to competing for two years with the UofC Dinos varsity team from 2017-2019. Competing at the 2017 Canadian World Trials, and sprinting at a national level in all 4 strokes, he firmly believes in the development of every single stroke, even for the goal of improvement in just one.

In his last 2 years of coaching with UCSC, Kenton has helped coach nearly every group in the 12 & 13+ streams, including in the weight room just last year. This variety in coaching over the past couple years will give Kenton the skills necessary to assist swimmers of all ages and ability levels. He currently has his NCCP level one certification, with plans to complete his level two as soon as he can.

With a special interest in power and race preparation, Kenton’s coaching philosophy is that athletes have to be built as people first, and we must help them build the tools to be successful both in and out of the pool. Having gone through every step of the program here in Calgary, he understands the commitment and balancing act that athletes must play with all of their responsibilities in life, and he always wants his swimmers to look forward to coming to workout every day and give it their all.

Kenton is currently a full-time 4th year Physical Literacy student at Mount Royal University, and aims to complete his CSEP-CPT certification before graduating. When not on the pooldeck, you can usually catch him in the gym, reading, or watching his favourite shows.
