N1 Head Coaches:
Coaches Mike Blondal (Head Coach of the University of Calgary Dinos and the University of Calgary Swim Club) along with Jan Bidrman (Head Coach of the Calgary Academy for Swimming Excellence) have worked together as a team since 1997. During this time their swimmers have accomplished countless national and international successes ranging from Olympic and World Championships medalists to National and CIS titles.
At the 2007 CIS Championships both the Men and Women’s Dino teams narrowed the gap towards winning the CIS National titles. In the past two years, more than 20 swimmers have represented Canada at international meets, bringing home medals from the 2005 World Championships, the 2006 Commonwealth Games, the 2007 Pan-American and FISU Games.
This year the focus for the group is to make a strong impact at the Olympic Trials in April and also at CIS Championships in February. For most swimmers the journey towards this season started many years ago. This seasons goals will be established by maintaining a superior work ethic on a daily basis, and stepping up to the blocks with the confidence of knowing that all the work has been done both in and out of the pool...
