Calgary Swimming Academy - Summer 2007
Swimmers from the Calgary Swimming Academy had a great season competing successfully at many international meets throughout the summer. Following is a recap and some hilights:
2007 Pan-American Games
As in the past these Games have showed strong performances form the US Team. Being held in South America motived the region to gear up. The performances at this meet showed growth in world class swimming in the region. Canadians won numerous medals with Calgary based swimmers having a great impact on the team, swimming personal best performances, making final swims, and winning medals at this highly regarded meet. .

2007 Canadian Summer Nationals
Nationals were held in Calgary. With some swimmers swimming their peak performance. The Pan-Am Team arrived directly from Riowith some using this meet to prepare for their summer peaks. Calgary swimmers competed well, winning medals in numerous events. Curtis Lutsch and Katy Murdoch won their first individual National Championship medals .

2007 World University Games
In the absence of a major international meet, the World University Games proved to be truly exciting, with Canada sending a team of more than twenty swimmers. Three swimmers from Calgary (Chad Hankewich, Chad Murray and Liz Hendrik) represented Canada at this meet. Chad Hankewich consolidated his performances for the Pan-American Games, winning a relay medal. Chad Murray swam a big personal best in the 200 IM

2007 Paris Open
Many of the world's best swimmers chose to peak in Paris this summer. In a very strong field Mike Brown won the only gold medal for Canada in the 200 Breast, setting himself up well for this Olympic season. Adam Sioui competed well, winning medals in relays. Calgary Patriot's Erica Morningstar, coached by Jamie Connors, won a bronze medal in the 100 Free and helped Canada to podium performances on relays including a Canadian record in the 400 Free Relay

North American Challenge Cup
As a part of junior development squad our best Canadian juniors were selected to represent Canada at this Tri-meet against California and Mexico. The meet was dominated by our young up and coming Canadian squad. Calgary swimmers on the team competed at their best.
